I’ve participated in various brand collaborations and media partnerships over the years that speak to the power of women and opportunities in spaces where we live and work. It’s important to share skills and knowledge with peers and those younger and so I’ve spoken at various events about career and self-growth, and also tried to showcase how you can turn your various passions and curiosities into side-hustles or a full-time career. This a key driver for this studio - women empowerment.

Feel Free SA
2016
“Influencers from fashion to music share what makes them feel free in a campaign launched by Spree.
Fashion is one expressive industry that charges current topics and movements, basically showcasing what moves society at that time. And for Freedom Day 27 April, Spree.co.za, renowned for supporting local fashion, has launched a campaign around this day. The #FeelFreeSA campaign brings together influencers from fashion right through to music and has them sharing what their element of freedom is, or what freedom basically means to them. The chosen partakers are designer Chu Suwannapah, editor of Grazia Zanele Kumalo, Jackie Burger of Salon 58, Kelly Fung fashion editor for Marie Claire, Siya Beyile of Threaded Man, designer Gert-Johan Coetzee, singer Chad Saaiman, TV personality Danilo Acquisto, Elle fashion director Taryn Oppel and Janine Jellers.
“We asked proudly South African individuals who we have worked with before or who have inspired us over the past few years to be a part of the campaign”, says Spree’s head of marketing Karen Dempers.”

“While still in her teens, Zanele Kumalo remembers wanting to be a creative director for a magazine. She even designed a glossy with some school friends. Kumalo shelved the idea when she studied fine art and language at Rhodes University, pursuing a fantasy of being a fashion designer and training in clothing sales.”
